    Is Organic Food More Nutritious?

    Is Organic Food More Nutritious?

Still no hard fast YES or NO on this one yet. There lots of research out, and some of the latest findings form the journal of alternative and complementary medicine show:-

Organic Fruit and Veg CAN contain higher levels of certain vitamins and minerals than their conventional counterparts.

Organic crops contain significantly higher levels of Vitamin C, along with minerals including IRON.

Other none benefits of Organic are:-

More omega-3 Fats, which boost heart and brain health, in some cases 70per cent higher in organic milk.

But is Organic the best - Is it the way forward?

There are some things to think about:-

The nutrition content of our fruit and veg depends on how fresh they are.

Vitamin levels of food start to decline from the moment it is harvested. So a non-organic apple grown just a few miles away will have more vitamins than an organic one transported across the world.

We have to get our 5 portions of fruit and veg per day. This can be organic or non. I hope this makes you have a think on the organic debate.
